JOB: WEB DESIGNER – HTML/Flash, ALM, NYC

Web Designer
ALM is looking for a Web Designer who will be responsible for the development of digital and
print promotional collateral, and innovative sales and marketing solutions that support the ALM
brand and the portfolio of legal, real estate and event products and services. This designer will
also be in charge of driving attendance to events by producing and maintaining web pages,
templates, email blasts, banner ads and any other web material ensuring these are produced
to best practice standards and guidelines and to agreed deadlines. The Designer works closely
with our Brand Management team members to ensure timely delivery of marketing collateral to
internal clients. The right candidate must possess energy, a passion for the work, and a desire
to deliver innovative successful solutions for clients. The candidate will be a proactive problem-
solver with the ability to multi-task and provide a high-level of customer service.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that web page and campaign designs (micro sites, banner ads, HTML emails) are
consistent with product branding as well as best practice standards and guidelines

Test all functionality, links and particularly booking and registration areas and resolve any
errors or issues in a timely and efficient way

Ensure that updates of content and creation of all web material and functionality take
place in an efficient and timely way

Ensure that task deadlines are met and communicate progress, changes or updates to
events team

Ensure that web sites are using most recent and suitable features and functionality and
that best practice standards and guidelines are adhered to across the products.

Implement best practice Usability and Accessibility guidelines on all aspects of Web
Production (including Email Alerts)

Take a key role in the development of the event sites/templates.

Implement new guidelines and best practices as well as improvements in work flow
processes across the product websites. Assist in training new team members on web
production, systems, processes and best practice as necessary.

Take a responsible role as a team member working alongside other members of the
events dept and the web team

Maintain regular & efficient communication with management team, and marketing/web
team/contacts to determine event department requirements and keep all parties updated
on progress and any issues. Document minutes/actions from meetings attended.

Explain processes to new team members and advise on best practice

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree preferably in multimedia, design, IT, marketing or related field

2-3 years’ web production/marketing experience

Advanced level in the following: CSS, HTML/XHTML (including W3c validation),
Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Flash 4.

Strong understanding of Internet industry trends for all marketing mediums: e-commerce,
email, banners, multi-media, landing pages, etc.

Able to produce web pages, banner ads and email blasts to best practice standards

Familiarity with cross-browser issues i.e. Internet Explorer 6/7, Firefox, Safari

Experience of building and maintaining sites using a CMS (Content Management
System)

Experience of building varied types of forms

Able to post Videos/webcasts

Knowledge of JavaScript and PHP/MySQL recommended

Experience of building e-commerce sites a plus

Knowledge of usability best practices, e.g. Mobile, PDA, Screen readers (e.g. Jaws)

Experience of Web Production in a medium to large event, media or publishing company

Learns quickly, uses initiative, and can work well under pressure

Works well within a team environment, and has a good understanding of business
constraints

Demonstrates an aptitude for design and technical ability and a good eye for detail
