Responsibilities
We are currently accepting applications for a senior experience/interaction designer. The successful candidate will be joining a world-class team of industry researchers with a wide variety of disciplinary backgrounds including social scientists, design researchers, interaction designers, human factors engineers, strategic planners, and technology innovators.
The qualified candidate will serve as user experience lead on one of several ambitious technology research initiatives underway at Intel and will contribute from early research phases through to prototype and production. Exceptional dedication, communication and interpersonal skills are an essential part of this role. The successful candidate for this senior staff position will be expected to play an instrumental role in developing the experience design team and capability at Intel. Recognized industry thought leadership, and experience managing design teams and/or evangelizing for design within a large corporate organization will be considered valuable assets for the position.

This is a full-time position, and salaries are competitive and will be commensurate with experience. We are a team that believes we achieve our best results when we work together, so candidates must be willing to relocate to either the Portland, Oregon or Santa Clara, California area for this position.
Job responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
• Leading collaborative synthesis of research data; translating consumer research into design implications/requirements
• Fostering an environment on cross-disciplinary teams of flexible/design thinking
• Developing/visualizing product concepts, interaction schemes, and user experiences (and use cases) using wireframes, storyboards, scenarios, etc.
• Designing/building and directing the design of conceptual and working experience prototypes (software and hardware)
• Planning/coordinating design research within the context of a larger project research agenda
• Leading the development of user experience strategy, positioning projects within a clearly articulated context of Intel’s business, industry/ecosystem developments, and emerging consumer behaviors
• Developing strategies for communication of project results to internal and external stakeholders; presenting design concepts to audiences with a wide variety of (mostly technical) backgrounds
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate the following:
• Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills paired with wild creativity
• History of successful collaboration on cross-functional teams and across disciplines
• Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
• Enthusiasm and confidence; ability to lead projects independently
• Ability to balance personal interests and design sensibilities with the objectives of research colleagues and the needs of the business
• High tolerance for a dynamic work environment with rapidly changing priorities
• Willingness and ability to travel
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
• Master’s degree or PhD in design or a related discipline
• 5 years experience as a practitioner and leader in the field of interaction design
• 5 years experience with successful project planning and management
Preferred Requirements:
• Significant academic work and/or professional experience in a secondary discipline (design-related, social/behavioral sciences, computer sciences, business, etc.) is a strong advantage
• Highly developed visualization skills; familiarity with software prototyping tools (e.g., Flash, Illustrator, Photo Shop, After Effects)
