Founded nearly 20 years ago by musician and activist, Peter Gabriel, WITNESS partners with NGO’s, community groups, and grassroots organizations around the globe.
Description
We are seeking an intern to work with the Office Administrative Support Team and the Human Resources Manager to enhance their non-profit administrative skills and assist with various related tasks. There is a great deal of collaborative work with other staff and departments within WITNESS.
Tasks include:
• Participating in all Staff and Program meetings, handling logistics related to agenda items, facilitators, note takers, speakers, and Skype conferencing;
• Assisting with database entry;
• Assisting the Office Coordinator to review office protocols and procedures including the revisions of manuals, procedures, handbooks, and other supportive documentation;
• Assisting the Human Resource Manager with various personnel related tasks and reports;
• Assisting the Program Assistant with various tasks related to program initiatives, maintaining the translator database, and outreach on training materials.
• Assisting the Executive Assistant to coordinate external meetings, prepare materials for bi-annual Board Meeting, and assist in various related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Potential interns should be undergraduate or graduate students. We look for an academic focus in Business Administration with an interest in Non-Profit management, and/or Human Resource Management.
Candidates should have:
• At least two (2) years of related course work
• Related internship experience in nonprofit sector preferred
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
• Ability to work independently as well as to multitask effectively
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word required
• Experience with Powerpoint, Final Cut Pro, and/or data entry system is a strong plus
• Additional languages also a plus
This position is ideal for an intern looking to develop the skills to be an non-profit administrative professional or human resource manager.  The ideal candidate will enjoy multi-tasking and working with various departments on a project.
General Information
We require a minimum of two months commitment, for at least 15 hours per week. Internships are unpaid.  Our offices are located in Brooklyn, NY, convenient to the Atlantic Terminal (2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, Q, N and R trains) and C (Lafayette) and G (Fulton) trains.
