Senior Web Application Developer

A New York City-based startup building a creative social platform for kids and teens seeks an outstanding developer with extensive experience building web applications.

The ideal candidate:
• Has experience architecting complex social environments from the ground up
• Is an effective leader who can keep track of and integrate the work of multiple developers
• Follows the current trends in web app development and has strong opinions about existing and upcoming technologies
• Loves to code, but also has a good eye for design
• Has a desire to build something extraordinary and lasting
• Takes joy in the sense of meaning that comes from being part of an outstanding team engaged in important work

About the company:

Founded in the spring of 2013 by a team of proven technology and media innovators, the company is building a unique social environment where kids and teens can build and share mobile experiences without knowing how to code.  Our mission is to inspire kids to become mobile content creators.

Requirements:
• You’re fluent in at least 1 front-end web framework (Angular, Backbone, Ember, etc.)
• You’re familiar with at least 1 back-end web framework (Rails, Express, Django, etc.)
• You can easily convert designs and wireframes into functional HTML and CSS
• You have some experience speccing out an API
• You have a good understanding of system design, data structures and algorithms
Responsibilities:
• Continuously design, develop and deploy web apps to hosted servers
• Measure and evaluate features and system metrics to continuously improve user experience and service performance
• Work closely with Product Owners, QA, Agile Coaches and other teams in an agile environment to collaborate and influence new products
• Be proactive, go beyond expectations
