New York Public Radio is looking for a Project Manager/SCRUM Master to join the Digital Product & Technology team. The Project Manager/SCRUM Master will manage internal software development projects and work with the Digital Product and Technology team to facilitate the agile development process. Strong understanding of and hands-on experience with Agile methodology and tools is a must.

Interest in working with cutting edge digital technologies is essential for this position.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the Digital Product and technology team in Scrum processes, including Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Story Point Estimation, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Retrospectives.
  • Provide leadership to help the team achieve its maximum and sustainable Sprint Velocity. Ensure Sprint Goals including throughput, predictability and software quality are met.
  • Coach the team to ensure they adhere to Scrum values, principles and industry best-practices.
  • Identify ways to improve the product development processes
  • Shield the team from outside interference and ensure they can achieve the Sprint Goals that were committed to deliver to the business at the end of each Sprint.
  • Partner with the Product Owner, Business Owners to ensure that Epics, Themes, Stories and Tasks are well-defined or have sufficient information that will be progressively elaborated for the team to progress with development.
  • Work with the team and other business partners to remove impediments.
  • Create timely project status reports to stakeholders and managers.
  • Manage integration with 3rd parties and vendors as needed to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Escalate project risks and issues, develop mitigation plans as required.
  • Responsible for efficient and timely deployments to production.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience as a Scrum Master role or in a similar capacity in an Agile environment
  • Knowledge of basic fundamentals of iterative/agile software development
  • Good understanding of other agile processes and methodologies and leverage other techniques to provide value to the digital team
  • Knowledge of basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition
  • Requires ability to successfully manage multiple teams and projects
  • Excellent communication, diplomacy and collaborative skills required
  • Ability to work/collaborate/communicate effectively with upper management, stakeholders and other external dependencies
  • Experience managing projects using Atlassian tools like Jira, Jira Agile, Confluence, etc.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed, including some evenings and weekends, and to be on-call for emergencies required
