The position of Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer, Interactive Media, will positively contribute to the long-term development of interactive media as an area of studio based practice within the Queensland College of Art (QCA). The appointee will play an essential role in shaping and teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level with particular reference to using interactivity in the design of digital artefacts and digitally mediated artistic practice. Specifically, the candidate would engage with innovative uses of technology and have a forward thinking view of how hardware and software developments can drive new, dynamic and generative forms of user experience and creative expression. The appointee will also be expected to assist in the advancement of interdisciplinary knowledge and projects linking all relevant discipline program areas.
The position will spearhead QCA’s rapidly developing research into interactivity with digital media in all forms of design and artistic practice. An active engagement with international research partners is required. As is an appropriate computational expertise and a strong interest in experimental and innovative approaches to interactive media.
By applying highly developed research knowledge, skills and expertise, the Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer, Interactive Media, will develop, enhance and provide leadership in research, learning and teaching, and community engagement. The position requires highly developed research leadership including supervision, training, education, mentoring and assistance to research staff and research students in order to produce high quality research, obtain competitive grant funding, work closely with industry partners and contribute to organisational objectives. The appointee will develop and lead collaborative, multi-disciplinary research activities with both internal and external research groups in order to build academic capacity across the QCA.
This is a full time, continuing position located at the South Bank campus.
Salary range:
Associate Professor, Level D: $127,962 – $140,976 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $149,717 – $164,942 per annum.
Senior Lecturer, Level C: $106,274 – $122,543 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $124,341 – $143,376 per annum.
