We are looking for a front-end web developer intern who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. Responsibilities will include working under the head of front-end development at Cactus to translate UI/UX design wireframes to actual code. You will work with the UI/UX designer and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.


  • Develop new user-facing features
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
  • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
  • Develop functional and appealing web- and mobile-based applications based on usability
  • Provide website maintenance and enhancements
  • Use a combination of markup languages to write web pages
  • Write functional requirement documents and specifications
  • Create quality mockups and prototypes on tight timelines
  • Assist back-end developers with coding and troubleshooting
  • Create cascading style sheets (CSS) that are consistent across all browsers and platforms
  • Maintain graphic standards and branding throughout the product’s interface
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies
  • Promote usability best practices
  • Enjoy shipping small, quick experiments to validate your ideas and opinions
  • Be unafraid to have your opinion changed
  • Give and solicit feedback from others in order to continually raise our bar for quality


  • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
  • Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks
  • Good understanding of ReactJS
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Be driven by innovation and creativity
  • Attention to detail and passion for your craft

This is a paid internship position with occasional late evenings and/or weekend work.
