Overview:

The Corporate Communications & Public Relations Department is a hub for Entercom’s internal and external communications and positions Entercom’s portfolio of over 235 radio stations, digital platforms and live events with national, local and trade media, influencers, and stakeholders. The department oversees executive thought leadership, business and industry communications, financial communications, local public relations, programming, talent and event publicity, crisis communications and sports business communications.

 

The Role:

The intern will gain a deeper understanding of corporate communications and public relations best practices and tools at a leading media company. Over the course of the spring internship, the communications intern will be exposed to all aspects of the field.

At the end of the internship, the intern will be able to:

  • Successfully build a media list using a variety of public relations tools
  • Draft a variety of communications announcements including press releases, media alerts and social media posts
  • Monitor media for company coverage and draft media relations materials including media tracker and media coverage report

 

The position is based in our NYC office with an immediate start date. This is a part-time, for University credit role.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Learn to draft media relations materials including building and updating media lists and writing/reviewing/editing local stations’ press materials
  • Learn to monitor media for relevant coverage, particularly with Cision
  • Learn to maintain media trackers and recaps
  • Learn to monitor media for industry and company coverage
  • Learn to assist in management of company social media channels including drafting social media posts
  • Learn to support on-site logistics management at activations and live events as needed
  • Assist in department administrative duties

 

Requirements:

  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Current enrollment in a BS university/college pursuing a degree in Journalism, Media and Communications, Public Relations or related field

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Desire to learn and deep interest in the communications industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of different social networks
  • Superior organizational skills and great attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with ability to thrive in fast-paced team environment
