Position Summary:
Research, develop, design, implement, and oversee all aspects of the design, technology and digital infrastructure that supports the Hemispheric Institute’s large-scale websites, vast archival collections, digital publications, communications, collaborations, and public programs. Lead the Institute team in matters of technology and design and represent the Institute with NYU and external collaborators in these arenas. Plan and implement periodic maintenance, upgrades, and redesign of all websites and platforms in accordance with state-of-the art standards and trends in order to ensure preservation and accessibility over time. Create and implement formats and design to facilitate and streamline staff effectiveness and improve management of project resources and assets. Oversee all information technology services, activities, and performance of technology tools for the Hemispheric Institute.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in web and graphic design or related field
Required Experience:
5+ years relevant experience in advanced web design, management, implementation, and maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Experience:
Experience in an academic and/or arts environment
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of UX, UI, and IxD design, wireframing
interface development, interaction design, information architecture and prototyping
Experience with end-to-end design, from strategy and branding to full implementation and maintenance
Familiarity with inclusive and accessible design, including ADA WCAG 2.0 protocols
Experience with design tools such as Adobe CC Sketch and Figma
Advanced knowledge and experience with CMS tools (content management systems) such as JOOMLA! and WordPress
Fluency in HTML, CSS, and other development tools
Experience managing technology and design teams and projects
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficiency with Spanish and/or Portuguese and familiarity with Latin America
Additional Information:
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $75,000.00 to USD $125,000.00.
