POSITION: Part-Time Video Assistant

Hours: 20 hours per week during the academic year, 35 hours per week over the
summer
Salary: Based on experience. Hourly rates between $12 and $15.

DLTS Description:

NYU Digital Library Technology Services (DLTS) processes, enables access to and preserves digital materials
that come from both the NYU community and from collaborating partner organizations. Our methods include
digitization, software development, research, project coordination and the articulation of best practices. DLTS
creates infrastructure and systems to advance networked scholarly communication and explores the questions
raised by the use of these services as they continue to evolve. The projects handled by the DLTS are available
here.

Some of the materials coming into this virtual library are from VHS, Umatic, miniDV and other magnetic tape
media. DLTS has a part-time position available for a digitization assistant. The Library is currently migrating this
material to digital form using both a semi-automatic system and Final Cut Pro. The person filling this position will
be working under the direction of the Digital Content Manger at Bobst Library.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

We are looking for a student well versed in different aspects of analog and digital video. Skill sets
should include expertise in the following:





Final Cut Pro experience
Two years experience in a video lab, multimedia business, video/web provider or other similar business concerns.
Knowledge of proper handling of archival material.
Knowledge of codecs and compression technology
A background in film, photography, museum studies, or archival studies is preferred.
