Description: Asia Society, a prestigious non-profit institution that is the leading force
in forging closer ties between Asia and the West through arts, education, policy and
business outreach, is looking for a Technical Intern to assist in web development of its
Drupal-managed CMS. The ideal candidate should have a passion for maximizing
available resources within a non-profit organization to develop engaging user
experiences online.

Responsibilities:

The Online Technical Intern should be passionate about latest practices in web
development, with a knack for discovering and implementing existing libraries and
software to enhance Asia Society’s unique and diverse online needs. Candidates should
be prepared to configure our Drupal-managed CMS, including installing and testing
modules, configuring Views, managing user permissions and template editing. The
Technical Intern will also be called for front-end web development and should follow
best practices in web development. There may be some data entry and QA involved.

We are looking for someone who can not only execute basic web development tasks but
also provide input to enhance the organization’s online strategy. Therefore, the candidate
should be aware of all things web, and interested in seeking out technical solutions to
Asia Society’s many online needs.

Requirements:
Candidates should have, at a minimum, a working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and
JavaScript (jQuery). The Technical Intern must have experience working with Drupal
(experience with Views required and Panels a plus) as well as be comfortable with
version control using SVN. Working knowledge of PHP a plus. Candidates must
adhere to best practices in web development.

Schedule:
The Online Technical Intern is expected to work at least 20 hours per week, for a
minimum of nine to 12 weeks, at Asia Society headquarters on Park Avenue. Specific
schedules can be designed to meet the individual needs of the intern. Please indicate the
days and hours you are available to work in your application. The Online Reporting
Intern is unpaid. School credit is available.
