Tendril is looking for a senior software engineer to work in our Applications Group. Help us leverage the power of the Tendril Connect platform to turn information about energy use and the ability to control in home devices into interactions that teach people how to be smarter about their energy use. Working closely with UX and design, our group’s mission is to make sure that any interface a customer interacts with is engaging, usable and most of all fun. Applying principals from social psychology, user centered design and public health; we aim to build systems that will change people’s behaviors and attitudes around energy.
Position Summary
We are looking for a senior software engineer that can act as a lead for our applications group making high level architectural decisions, working with the platform team and also writing code. You need to be an independent self-starter and comfortable working in a small, faced paced environment. We work in Rails and prefer that you have had experience with it. We want you to have experience building real software with a team and a deep understanding of continuous integration and test driven development. We also want you to appreciate the end user perspective of these technologies and be able to be an advocate for the people using these interfaces. The effectiveness and power of the emerging smart grid directly correlates to its adoption by the general public.
You should be either familiar with the following technologies or an analog:
- Postgres
- Rails 3.1
- Cucumber / Rspec / Jasmine
- Jenkins
You should have experience working on large production deployed systems and an understanding of the event machine / reactor pattern. We’ll look at your resume but we won’t ask you a bunch of brain puzzles. You interview by pair programming with one of developers. We’re about where you came from but what we’re most interested in is what you can do.
