3D Designer for Virtual Reality (6-12 months contract)
Play a vital role in building out a new medium for computing and productivity. As a 3D Designer, you’ll help create the future of Virtual Reality. You are a detailed-oriented 3D Designer who understands how form influences function, can create high-quality components helping the team bring life and motion to VR experiences.
Responsibilities:

Contribute to the overall vision and strategy for the VR team, from concept exploration through implementation, working closely with UX, Software Engineers and Product Managers to build designs

Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process by making compelling designs and concepts and expressing them in compelling visual and verbal ways: create stories, sketches, wireframes, flow diagrams, models, 2D/3D mockups, interactive prototypes

Execute design projects from concept to production, defining and achieving creative and technical requirements

Create and evolve design while maintaining consistent interaction models, patterns and design language, when important to the UX.

Focus on the user. Interpret and translate complex technologies into simple and beautiful products and user experiences.

Help the team bring beauty, life, and motion to VR experiences:

Create high-quality components and UI geometry
-
Shader and rigging and animation setup
-
Visually tweaks on 3D meshes according to Art Direction

Create production-ready 3D assets
-
Implement 3D assets to production environment
-
Optimize according to performance requirements

Create and contribute to a great design team culture. Stay inspired and inspire the people around you.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. graphic, interaction, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
-
Expert with 3D design and engineering tools (e.g., Maya, Zbrush, Modo, Photoshop, Blender, Unity)
-
Experienced with game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) and proficiency with Unity3D
-
Ability to demonstrate a range of styles: high and low poly modeling, experience imagining and creating fantastical elements, without direct photo-reference
-
Strong core design skills; ability to establish visual hierarchy, layout, typography, and color effectively

Experience shipping consumer products, games and/or experiences
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Strong design portfolio of client or personal projects
-
3D animation, rigging experience, understanding of animation theory and technique
-
Ability to quickly establish credibility with Engineers, Product Managers, Designers

Thrive collaborating in multidisciplinary teams: research scientists, UI and 3D artists, interaction designers,, full-stack software and hardware engineers, marketing and business teams.
