Full Stack Developer

The Full Stack Developer will drive both the vision for creating online learning environments for innovative teaching and learning as well as be involved in the production of creating content with a team. This proactive, self-starting leader will have knowledge of innovative trends in coding, leadership and team-building skills, very strong planning/organizational skills, and financial management/budgeting skills. Strong candidate will have working knowledge of educational technology software today, big- picture creative thinking, core programming languages, successful software development life-cycle planning/execution from conception to final product with great attention to detail. This leader will also have experience vetting, hiring, and managing a number of third-party teams, as needed.

Reports to: Associate Provost, Online Education

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years developing enterprise-level applications in a complex, heterogeneous computing environment
  • Experience developing for mobile devices and responsive web pages for various platforms, including iOS and Android.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and proficiency with various web technologies, methodologies, and platforms such as Java, J2SE, JSP, PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Swift, XML, XSLT, SQL, SOAP, Unix, Solaris, Linux, Apache, MySQL, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, Unidata, JDBC, e-commerce, Web Services, SOA, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Component-based Development, and Object-Oriented Design and Development
  • Experience with AWS
  • Strong understanding of the web development cycle and programming techniques and tools.
  • Experience directing system testing and validation procedures and troubleshooting
  • Strong ability to work both independently and as a part of a cross-functional team.
  • Flexibility to work outside business hours for system maintenance activities.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, flexible and able to handle multiple responsibilities and competing demands
  • Excellent project management skills with proven ability to lead, negotiate, evaluate and terminate relationships based on performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to work in a multi- ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff.
  • A commitment to diversity, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within ArtCenter’s diverse communities.
  • Ability to handle all information with tact and discretion and recognize the confidential nature of ArtCenter’s business, especially when working with third parties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Experience with start-up environment
  • Industry experience in online higher education, training, and/or ecommerce
  • Fluency or understanding of specific languages, such as Java, PHP, or Python, and operating systems
