JOB: PetSmart – Director of Internet Biz Strategy



The Director of Internet Business Strategy is responsible for
leveraging our presence to profitably drive ecommerce
sales and use the web to market our brand and stores.
Responsibilities include developing the strategic plan, managing our
outsourced hosting partner, prioritizing and executing the operating
plan, and providing the cross-functional leadership and direction in
achieving our corporate growth goals. As a business champion, this
leadership position will be a key strategic partner in our multi-
channel customer experience development, and business integration
opportunities across all customer channels. This will include
managing two (2) senior managers who supervise a total of ten (10)


Develops the strategic plan and operating budget for the department
with overall responsibility for P&L of e-commerce activities for Defines operating strategies including customer
contact strategies, on-line advertising, email marketing, search
engine, and affiliate programs to drive incremental business across
all channels.

Plays a key leadership role in the development of brand and user
content in addition to expanding the customer community base.
Responsible for optimizing the customer experience to ensure the day-
to-day effectiveness of content display, merchandising and product
presentation, navigation, and search.

Continually strives to improve the effectiveness of the websites
through partnership with corporate resources. Oversees the planning
of key promotions and special events to support corporate goals and
ensure integration of the internet across all channels.

Manages key relationship with our ecommerce platform partner, and key
strategic alliances including Search Agency and email Vendor.

Fosters collaboration with merchandising, IS, store operations,
customer service, distribution, supply chain, creative, charities,
corporate communications, CRM and retail marketing.

Works closely with core merchandising team and Internet staff to
ensure correct and accurate product presentation and testing
difference product merchandising and promotional alternatives. Plays
a key stakeholder role in the customer contact strategy development
and execution, including email, affiliate, search marketing, landing
page and site experience.

Oversee the analysis and distribution of weekly/monthly/annual key
metrics and sales performance reporting from both a corporate and
Brand perspective.


Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in
Marketing, Business or Finance.
MBA and Retail experience preferred.
Minimum of 7 years experience that includes leadership experience
with Internet strategy, direct marketing, and/or retailing.
Prior experience developing and implementing a compelling strategy
and concept that builds relationships with customers and converts
them into lifelong, loyal customers.
Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
Strong creative problem-solving and project management skills.
Working in a fluid and evolving organization that is very matrixed
and highly collaborative.
Creating effective partnerships with 3rd party vendors.
