Internship: Internship with Art Kleiner

The editors at strategy+business, an award-winning global business magazine published by Booz& Company, a major multinational consulting firm, are taking applications for a paid, part-time media innovation internship for the Spring semester. The position, working up to 16 hours a week with a small team based at our Midtown Manhattan headquarters, will start in January/February 2011 and continue through June.

We are looking for an energetic and resourceful student who can work with us to conceive, develop and deliver apps for strategy+business and Booz& Company — for the iPad, the blackberry, and other platforms. We believe there are opportunities to do something genuinely distinctive. We’re looking for people who can work with us to conceive and develop these projects and bring them to fruition. You will be drawing on our own existing projects, working with client-facing and internal staff, and contributing direction and creativity.

Our audience is global, and composed of decision-makers: Senior executives and people interested in “the way the world works.” They are not necessarily formal, but they want substance in what we deliver. The ideal candidate is creative, capable of producing results, with the necessary skills, and a professional, collegial demeanor.

The pay is $20/hour. Work schedules would depend on the individual, but would involve up to 16 hours/week, with some time at our offices. Our offices are located near Grand Central Station in Manhattan. The interns would work directly with the magazine’s staff, including editor-in-chief Art Kleiner (also the instructor for the “future of infrastructure” course at ITP), and publisher Jonathan Gage. Your work would be credited and can be used in future portfolios; we hope it will have a long lifespan on the web as well.

Internship credit towards the degree may also be available, pending the permission of the department; if so, the internship will include an in-depth evaluation at the semester’s end.

strategy+business comprises a general-interest, long-form print quarterly and a recently redesigned website, both published by the global management consulting firm Booz& Company. The print magazine has an audited circulation of 135,000 that combines newsstand sales and paid subscriptions with a controlled, c-suite readership. Our web site has a registered user base of more than 300,000. s+b also oversees Booz& Company’s commercial book publishing operations, most recently in partnership with Harvard Business Press, Jossey-Bass, Basic Books, and McGraw-Hill. strategy+business has a devoted executive readership and is expanding its advertising base, marketing activities, and promotional outreach.
