Design Intern
Description of Potion
Potion crafts technology into intuitive interactive experiences. We partner with corporate, cultural, start-up, and institutional clients to express their stories in new digital forms that educate, entertain, and catalyze transformation in people all around the world. Potion’s team members are curious, respectful, inspirational, collaborative, and passionate about creating transformative work. Those values inform both our work, and the teams we build to create it.
Design Intern: Position Description and Overview
The Design discipline values creative thinkers and makers with multidisciplinary design practice. We express the creative vision of the team through a project’s motion, visual impact, and interaction. Our team blends technology, rich visual design, and real human-experience to craft beautiful and thoughtful digital products that have lasting impact.
The Design Intern position requires a solid foundation in design & visual communications (composition, interaction interface, information architecture, etc.) as well as the ability to translate design direction across multiple platforms and a wide range of media. Interns are self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, and consistently display enthusiasm for experiencing all aspects of the studio. This is an opportunity to take risks, do the unexpected, make mistakes, and build a design vocabulary–this position affords the most time for exploration and creative freedom possible within a professional environment.
This is a full-time, three month paid internship on site in our Manhattan office.
Expectations & Responsibilities
A Design Intern is responsible for supporting the conceptual development, direction and delivery of visual design–both internally and externally. Ideal candidates will participate in brainstorms and ideation to aid in the development of high level concepts, and are able to follow direction and iterate upon ideas with elegant design solutions. They have a developing sense of interaction and screen design, and contribute to 1 to 2 projects at a time, as well as presentations–on a regular basis.
Every Designer within the design discipline contributes to a project’s conceptual development and is expected to collaborate in developing meaningful experiences for a wide-range of audiences. Designers are expected to bring a strong point of view to both challenge and inspire one another, to push boundaries and elevate our work. This ability must be backed by a sophisticated executional ability of the highest calibre, and exceptional command of the production process from initial concept to final delivery.
