Camera Research: WVIL | Hannah Davis

I’ve been looking at Artefact’s concept camera, the WVIL. WVIL = Wireless Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens.

The key game-changer with the WVIL is that the camera detaches from the lens. And you can control the lens from afar. And you can control multiple lenses with one camera. This will allow for flexibility in shot-taking, for more control over the photo, and for being able to see multiple views in one display. And it will make the camera like the smartphone and the laptop and everything else that’s new these days: connected. There are apps, social networking tools, and software that lets you upload photos right to Facebook.

The WVIL’s imagined specs include an 31 megapixel full-frame sensor built into every lens (which doesn’t yet exist), wireless HD streaming, a five-inch high-definition touchscreen display, and a baseplate with adapters for mounting lenses from other types of cameras.

As shown in the video below, you can also take pictures of yourself more easily….no more Myspace shots.
